KIDS AWAY
FROM HOME, SHOULDN'T BE AWAY FROM JUDAISM!
Your kids are our kids and we want to stay in touch with them as they journey
through college. Wherever your college kids are, Rabbi Rank wants to send them a
few messages during the year and a gift now and then. But he can't send anything
without a proper address.
Postal regulations require complete addresses including apartment number and
zip code. Even if you have already filled out a form in previous years, please
fill it out again. Forms can be obtained in the Temple Office.
The kids move and we need to keep current with their new addresses. Graduate
school students count, too. Please return the completed form as soon as
possible. Let's keep our kids connected with the Jewish community.

SOCIAL ACTION NEWS

FEGS
The family that has been accepting your generous donations of food
wishes to express their sincere gratitude for all your help during this
difficult time. The family greatly appreciates all your donations and cards
expressing good wishes. Unfortunately, the daughter, Sami, passed away in
January after a long battle with lymphoma. The son is now a senior in high
school and is hoping to get scholarship money so that he could attend college.
The mother is trying to find work, but so far has been unsuccessful. They are
still in need of food, so if you would like to help, please donate a Shoprite
gift certificate and put it in an envelope labeled Social Action Food Donation.
Please write the amount on the gift card. Include your name, address and phone
number and place the envelope in the Social Action mailbox in the main office.
In addition, they will be putting their house on the market in June. If anyone
would like to donate their time to help with basic house repairs and handy work,
contact Linda Weiss at LindaW418@awa-llc.com or call 933-8531.
We Care Blankets
Thank you Lucy Simon for your beautiful crocheted baby blankets and
hats. You did an outstanding job! Also, thank you to the women at the Atria
Assisted Living Facility in Plainview for crocheting special blankets for the
children. They all came out great! All the blankets will be wrapped in
cellophane with colorful ribbons and then brought to childrens wards in
hospitals. The babies, children and their families will be very happy to receive
them. Your handmade blankets will keep the babies and children warm while
undergoing chemotherapy. After their hospital stay they will take them home to
keep. Your time, effort and good wishes is greatly appreciated! You can see
photos of some of the blankets that were made displayed on the bulletin board
outside the main office. If anyone would like to crochet or knit blankets or
learn how to, please contact Linda Weiss at LindaW418@awa-llc.com or call
933-8531. Yarn donations are also appreciated.
FEGS Toiletry Drive
Thank you Zachary Goldstein for making a terrifice new Social Action Toiletry
Collection sign. It came out great! We are collecting toiletries for people less
fortunate than us. We could use the following items: body and hand soap,
toothpaste, toothbrushes, hairbrush and comb, shampoo, conditioner, tweezers,
cottonballs, disposable shavers, first aid materials and nail files. A big thank
you to those who have already donated toiletries. Your help is greatly
appreciated! Thank you Rita Goldman for your consistent help in delivering our
toiletries to FEGS. If you would like to donate toiletries, place them in the
Social Action Toiletry box in the Hebrew School hallway. Contact Linda Weiss at
LindaW418@awallc. com or 933-8531 if you have any questions.

UPCOMING B'NEI MITZVAH
My name is Sarah Fell. For my Bat Mitzvah Project, I am
donating my time to Variety Children Learning Center in Syosset. Most Sundays I
volunteer my time and work with Children who have Autism. These children are
becoming very special to me. I love reaching out to them and I love how they
reach out to me. This experience is incredibly rewarding for me. I am eager to
help Fund Raise for this worthy organization. Variety is a place that promotes
the development of children with learning, language and behavior challenges,
including autism.
My fundraising efforts are two-fold. First, I am hoping you
will donate your unwanted DVDs that your children have outgrown. A box will be
set up at Midway for this collection. Secondly, I am selling Tie-Dyed Live
Strong Bracelets that say: GIVE KIDS A CHANCE. And the back of the bracelets
say VARIETY. They are $1 each. I hope you will support me in my endeavor to
support Variety and all the Children that go there.
SARAHS BAT MITZVAH IS ON OCTOBER 9, 2010. MAZAL TOV |
