Adult Bar and Bat Mitzvah Beginning November 2 - 7:00PM
Okay - so you're not 13 any more !! When you were 13, you didn't become a Bat Mitzvah. Why? The family didn't belong to the synagogue. You were a Hebrew School drop-out. Girls didn't do it. But today, you think differently. Who is to say you can't still have that Bar or Bat Mitzvah you skipped a few years ago? The first principle of Judaism is - it's never too late. And when it comes to the study of Torah, it's really never too late. Students will commence their studies and be expected to lead, and within a year or two, will be up on the bimah, mostly with a group, leading services. Sounds good? It's very good, as anyone who has become an adult Bar or Bat Mitzvah will tell you.
LEARN WITH RABBI RANK
BECOME A BA'AL KERIAH (TORAH READER) (Mondays 7:00 - 7:50)
How do those Ba'alei Keriah (Torah Readers) do it? Once you've learned the system, it's a cinch! This class will focus on the function and music of the te'amim, the tropes that guide the reader in chanting the Torah. After mastering the te'amim, students will be given a section of Torah to learn and eventually chant before the congregation. An ability to read Hebrew is necessary, but don't worry about fluency, as your reading abilities will improve as you learn how to chant Torah.
