Midway Forum presents
Music in the Synagogue
with Cantor Danielle Bensimhon

The use of music and melody has a long history and tradition. Cantor Bensimhon will discuss the history of traditional melodies and follow with some of our newer styles. We will discuss the values and tensions between newer and older melodies. Cantors have different preferences, and, as they introduce different styles to the congregations they serve, congregants may have different reactions. There is new versus tradition. What styles encourage participation?
This session promises to be informative and spirited. The discussion may help crystallize the future trends in Jewish liturgical music at Midway and beyond.
