IMPORTANT

Dear Parents of 7th Grade Students,

The month of November is a chock full of events for the 7th grade.  The dates, times and programs were discussed at the parent meeting in September.  This is a reminder to ensure that we are all going to be on the same page.

Sunday, November 2 – Students will spend their session at the Variety Child Learning Center, 47 Humphrey Drive, Syosset.  Your child’s schedule for the day will be as follows:

The Tuesday/Thursday group will be at Variety from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon.

The Monday/Wednesday group will be at Variety from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

  • Please understand that Variety cannot accommodate all of our students at the same time.  Therefore, we split the time as mentioned above.
  • You cannot change your schedule.  Please adhere to the schedule as we cannot “overwhelm” the school.
  • Our teachers who work with your child(ren) on Sunday will meet with them at Variety.
  • Due to confidentially restrictions, no cell phones or cameras can be brought into the building.  In case of an emergency, our teachers have access to phones and if you need to call, Variety’s phone number is 921-7171.
  • We have enjoyed a very close working relationship with Variety

for the last 17 years.  Many of our graduates have continued

volunteering at Variety throughout High School, and some have

even make career choices as a result of their experience.

To express our gratitude to the institution, we ask that each of our

students bring a new early childhood book wrapped as a gift to be

     donated to Variety’s school library.

·        This same schedule will be repeated on Sunday, December 7

which will be the second and last visit to Variety.

  • On both dates, drop off and pick up is at Variety (not Midway.)  Drop off at the main entrance.

Sunday, November 9Kristallnacht Observance

All 7th grade students (parents are strongly encouraged to attend) will meet in the main sanctuary for the observance from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m.)  (On that day dismissal for 7th grade will be at 11:00 a.m.)  Following the service, we will have a theatrical presentation entitled  Through The Eyes of a Friend  produced by Living Voices.  You may review the background for this production by visiting www.livingvoices.org.  This is strong material and we have found it beneficial to you and your child for parents to attend with their child.

Sunday, November 16 – Parent Teacher Conference.  There will no session on that day since teachers are here to meet with parents.

Monday, November 17 – There will be the theatrical production  From the Fires  by Theatre III of Port Jefferson.  Students (Again, parents are strongly encouraged to attend) as Holocaust material is of a serious nature.  Meet at Woodbury Jewish Center at 6:00 p.m.  Play begins at 6:15 p.m.  The program is about one and a half hour long.  This production is powerful and meaningful.  We have collaborated with other schools to bring this production back for many years.

ALL 7th grade students will attend on Monday, November 17 and therefore the Tuesday class on Tuesday, November 18 is cancelled.

This letter was emailed as well on Monday, October 27.

We thank you for your cooperation.

Shalom V’todah,
