Back by popular demand. Cantor will help you melt away all those tensions through the practice of Yoga Nidra or psychic sleep. These sessions will include specific breathing techniques and deep healing relaxation in a seated position or on the floor.

It is a minhag (custom) to read the Book of Ruth on Shavu'ot. It is a tale of a non-Jewish woman who casts her lot with the Jewish people, and thus parallels the Torah's draw of all good people who wish to pursue a life of godliness.

Rabbi Rank will be leading a study session in the spirit of the Tikkun Lel Shavu'ot, an all-night study session on the first night of Shavu'ot, designed to prepare the soul to receive Torah first thing in the morning. We won't be studying all night but we will have at hand some wine and cheese (BYOW&C) as we contemplate an issue of much interest: "Is the Coronavirus a Punishment from God?"

In honor of Shavu'ot, we invite our pre-schoolers to draw pictures of flowers and tress, and things that grow, in order to decorate the Zoom Room just prior to our hearing the recitation of the Ten Commandments. Moms and Dad will hold up the artwork in their individual screens and we will highlight the artistry of our talented Midway Munchkins. For mlore info, click here.

In preparation for the holiday that commemorates the giving of the commandments at Mt. Sinai, we will hear those commandments chanted, contemplate their meaning for the 21st century, and honor their enduring value.

The Daf Shevu’i class has been meeting for a few years and is wide-open to new members. We do one page of Talmud a week. Sound slow? Only to those who may have never opened a page of Talmud. The page or daf is pretty dense. We are studying Avodah Zarah, meaning idolatry, and deals with the issues that keep the Jewish people from falling into the trap of false values, goals and aspirations. We mark a milestone in the lives of our seventh graders as they move out of Religious School and God-willing, into our Tikhon (High School) program and USY. There is no graduation from the study of Torah, only a moving up and onward. Mazal Tov to all our wonderful students. We will also honor our Tikhon students.

Kabbalat Shabbat

We recite the last service of Shabbat (Minhah), the first service of the first day of the week (Ma'ariv), and bid Shabbat farewell with wishes that the learning and energy we gained through Shabbat make the upcoming week productive, creative and fulfilling.
